Special Education Director (2026-2027 School Year)
The Mountain View-Birch Tree R-III School District will possibly be seeking a compassionate, experienced, and visionary Special Education Director for the 2026-2027 school year. This is an 11-month administrative position overseeing services for approximately 220 students with special needs across our district.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Providing leadership and supervision for all special education programs and staff
Ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations (IDEA, Section 504, etc.)
Collaborating with building administrators, teachers, and families to support student success
Overseeing IEP development and implementation
Managing special education budgets and resources
Supporting inclusive practices and student-centered programming
Qualifications:
Valid Missouri certification in Special Education Administration or eligibility
Strong knowledge of special education law, processes, and instructional strategies
Demonstrated leadership skills and experience working with diverse student populations
Effective communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills

Job Title: Special Education Paraprofessional
2025-2026
The Mountain View–Birch Tree R-III School District is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and dedicated Special Education Paraprofessional to support students with special needs at Birch Tree Elementary and Liberty High School. This full-time position requires travel between both buildings and offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the academic, social, and emotional growth of students.
Responsibilities:
Assist special education teachers in implementing instructional and behavioral strategies.
Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with disabilities across various settings (classroom, resource room, etc.).
Help students with academic tasks, self-care, mobility, and communication as needed.
Support students in developing social skills and appropriate classroom behavior.
Monitor student progress and provide feedback to certified staff.
Prepare instructional materials and adapt resources under the direction of the special education teacher.
Ensure a safe and supportive environment for all students.
Maintain confidentiality and comply with all district policies and procedures.
Travel between Birch Tree Elementary and Liberty High School as assigned.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervising teacher, principal, or special education director.
