This is Mrs. Tharp, Superintendent of the Mountain View-Birch Tree R-III School District. It was reported that threatening comments were made by a high school student at the end of the school day today. Immediate action was taken, as required by board policy to ensure the safety of all staff and students. Appropriate authorities have been contacted. We do not believe this to be a credible threat. However, we are taking all precautionary measures. An update, regarding the threat, will be sent to all parents on Sunday afternoon.

October's teacher of the month is LMS teacher, Ms. Mitzie Pennycuick. Ms. Pennycuick's peers said that she is always enthusiastic with students! She is a kind soul with many qualities that inspire students to do their very best. She is full of passion for learning and understanding in the world. How can 1st quarter be over? LMS celebrated 95% or better attendance with floats today! Any student with 100% attendance received a computer sticker and had their name put in a drawing for a $50 Nike gift card! Gavin Sharp won the card, but 198 students earned a float! Thank you to Connolly Insurance for sponsoring our attendance incentives and to Tressa Henry for the gift card.

Kam Wood had a great first day at State, she will start tomorrow with a 1 shot lead in the final pairing.
Save the date! Our Parents as Teachers program will be hosting four group connections this school year. The first activity is October 30! Parents as Teachers is a program for parents and children, prenatal to school age.
