Congratulations to MVBT 23-24 Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Sabrina Reese. Sabrina is a 5th grade teacher at Mountain View Elementary.
We would like to congratulate Liberty Eagle Terrell Gaines, as he has chose to further his education and basketball career at Austin Peay University in Clarksville, TN. Terrell is also the all time leading scorer in Liberty Eagle basketball history with 2,514 points. We wish he and his family the best of luck.
Parents and guardians, in regards to those physicals please also make sure we have correct insurance information on the form, this will also help us make sure your child has full eligibility in the upcoming season, and for Summer activity. We would also like to thank OZH for offering these free physicals. They will have 2 providers as well as nurses assisting to take care of our student athletes. We appreciate their support.
We will be offering free sports physicals to all incoming 6th grade, to current 11th students on Monday May 20. We will begin at each elementary at 8:15 am, with the 5th grade. We will move to LHS , to get all of the remaining students. We will be sending home forms beginning next week, for parents to fill out. Those will need to be returned, so the student can get the physical. We hope this cuts down on the uncertainty of students having a physical, and will ensure they are ready for summer activity, as well as helping parents not have to take care of this before school starts. In addition, we will be going back to the yearly physical so that we are sure everyone is covered and we have no gaps.

We want to reassure you that the threat made was thoroughly assessed by the authorities, and it has been deemed not credible. We place the safety of students and staff as the highest priority. We have security measures in place and protocols that are rigorously followed to ensure a safe learning environment. Thank you for your trust and continued support. Last night we were thrilled to celebrate the official ribbon cutting ceremony at our new Administrative Office, generously donated by Simmons Bank. Behind the stunning main building, we were gifted a spacious 1200 square foot storage facility. The main office building has 8 offices, a kitchen, a walk-in vault, a file room, and a conference room. The building sits next to Mountain View Elementary.
Our district administrators meet almost weekly in this building. It is a place where dreams are nurtured, ideas are born, and futures are shaped. The central office plays a critical role in ensuring the effective operation of the entire school district. Simmons Bank has provided us with a stellar space to make all of this happen!
Simmons Bank went above and beyond for the event, having the event catered by Petrova’s Pastries and Mixings. The evening was filled with joy, gratitude, and great food as we gathered with esteemed guests including our dedicated school board members, MVBT district administrators, the honorable Mayors of Birch Tree and Mountain View, a few of Simmons Bank’s employees, and our hardworking Central Office staff. In addition, Dr. Christensen, former Superintendent, was in attendance. Dr. Christensen and Steve Vines, Bank President, worked several months to finalize the details.
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Simmons Bank for their incredible generosity and support.
LMS had a contest for the cover of our planner for the 24–25 school year. Students submitted ideas and the student body voted. Kinley Young was the winner with Noah Smith and William Crisel coming in 2nd and 3rd. We are so proud of our students!

During the months of March and April, LMS students have been competing in and i-Ready Math Madness! Eagle Time groups completed lessons to move through the bracket. 8th Grade Red Team was the champion! They will be awarded the trophy at our next assembly and enjoyed pizza provided by Connolly Insurance!

Tonight the Southwest Regional Teachers Association (MSTA) presented awards at the DoubleTree Convention Center, Springfield, MO.
Mrs. Rebeccah Smotherman, 2nd Grade Teacher at Mountain View Elementary, and Mrs. Kala Chambers, LHS English Teacher were presented with this special award!
(SWRTA announced three Teacher of the the Year awards, one to an Elementary (Pre-K thru 5th grade) one to a Middle School (6th - 8th grade) and one High School (9th thru 12th grade). All Educator of the Year category winners received a plaque, $500, and $100 to the educator’s CTA.)

LMS 8th Graders became teachers in American History. Students had to create their own lessons, notes, supplements, and assessments. Realizing how difficult and messy educating can be, students have walked away with a new respect for the profession of teaching! Mrs. Smith hopes a few of them will choose teaching as a career; some students have a natural gift!
