In 8th grade Social Studies, students worked collaboratively in groups to explore key information about the Civil War. Each group was assigned a specific section of content to read and analyze. As they read, students identified important vocabulary, summarized the main idea, and created original illustrations to visually represent their section. They were also asked to research their topic to find 2 odd or weird facts about it to share. To wrap up the project, each group presented their findings to the class, teaching their peers about their portion of the Civil War and helping everyone build a deeper understanding of this pivotal time in American history. #TheLMSWay

Monday, the high school will play baseball with Bakersfield at 11 am varsity only. The junior high will play right after this game 1 game only. There is some confusion about Bakersfield playing Thayer, that is correct but they aren't playing until 5 pm in Springfield.

What a night! BTE’s Family Reading Night was a page-turning success! Families came together to read, laugh, and help their kiddos reach those AR goals—one story at a time. Thank you to everyone who joined us for an evening filled with books, bonding, and a whole lot of heart. We loved seeing our BTE community come together to make reading fun!

GOAT Update! Ms. Yarber passed on the GOAT Award! This is what she had to say, "Mr. McAfee is the most deserving of the Goat Award this week. He is always in such a great mood, it is contagious to other teachers and the students! He is happy to help anyone and will do so at the drop of a hat. He is a respectable person and coworker. I don't know what we would do without him in our district. The kids love him and it is obvious how much he cares for them!"

Miss Maleia Beavers will be joining the Mountain View Birch Tree School District as director of vocal music, where she will teach both middle and high school choir. Miss Beavers brings her passion for the arts and creative learning to her new role. She is currently enrolled as an online exclusive student with Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO) pursuing her BS in Psychology with a focus in Child Development and Childhood Trauma. She is certified in the state of Missouri as a substitute and paraprofessional teacher. While she has not been able to participate in music courses as a college student, Miss Beavers had a very involved extracurricular schedule during her middle and high school years. Miss Beavers participated for three years in middle school choir and four years in select chorus, performing at a variety of events including concerts, National Anthem performances at home sports events, select chorus state contest, and solo and ensemble contest. Miss Beavers' most cherished memories of being in the choir include singing the National Anthem with the select chorus at a Saint Louis Cardinals game, annual senior rewards for graduating students, and qualifying with ensemble groups for state multiple times. Her dedication and leadership were reflected in her role as alto section leader during her junior and senior years. Outside of the choir department, Miss Beavers also participated in band and theatre. In these extracurricular activities Miss Beavers served as section leader and first chair of the flutes in band and Stage Manager of two theatrical productions in the theatre. She was recognized as a member of both the Tri-M Music Honor Society and the International Thespian Society. Miss Beavers will be moving to the area this summer with her fiance, and is excited to become Mrs. Redden this October. She is eager to create a space where students can grow as strong musicians and people, taking vital life skills with them from unforgettable experiences and applying them beyond the walls of Liberty schools. Her goals include building an enriching, dynamic and well-rounded vocal music program at Mountain View Birch Tree School District and a powerful connection to her new community.
